Bridging the Age Gap

Engaging Younger Members in Our Community
Over the last 12 months we have made a concerted effort to attract more younger members into our community and it’s proven to be successful.
Our partnership with AKS High School over the last 10 years has been fantastic, its helping us bridge the gap between the younger and older generations, next year we have planned to work together to digitalise our members war and lifestyle stories in the 40’s and 50’s in a digital artwork programme with the arts and drama departments working together to achieve this great project. The aim of this is to bring the stories to life from the eyes of a child.
The King’s Trust
We have worked with The King’s Trust on their project “Challenge for Change” and including regular contact with Queen Camilla.
We also work closely with many local youth charities running and attending special projects aimed at bridging the gap.
Our local partner charities are:
Streetwise located in Warton The Hub located in South Shore.
Blackpool Empowerment located in Bispham, Blackpool
Our Impact
Just Good Friends in the community
The charity was established back in September 2012 by
our brilliant Founder and CEO Beverley Sykes after she
saw first hand the devastating effects that being lonely and
feeling isolated can do to people’s mental health and
general wellbeing.
We have grown steadily over the years under Bev’s
leadership to over 250 members, holding between 1-2
meetings and events per day, 7 days a week. Last year the
charity held over 400 local events in total.
