Tiered Care Programme

Programme Overview

Our care programme follows a proven 3 tier system that’s been researched and developed over the past 12 years. When we have first contact with our members, we will assess the level of care they will need and allocate them a welfare officer whose skillset best matches their need at that time.

Our care programme aims to transition members through our tiered system based on their individual needs. It aims to take our most vulnerable and time intensive members through the system step by step back to a point of being self-sufficient in the community needing little if any on-going support from our team. This highly successful approach means our members spend much less time at the doctors, hospital, less time with social services and often results in coming off medication.

On average our members spend between 3-6 weeks in each tier before we feel comfortable transitioning them into the next tier. This process sometimes takes very little time with others taking longer, more complicated cases will remain in certain tiers for life depending on their individual case needs.

Tiers
1. Befriending Service

Our team of dedicated volunteers regularly meet with members outside of our events as well as provide emotional support in times of need helping to build a much valued community.

2. Ongoing Care and Community Support

In addition to the events, we also provide on going care in the community. Our dedicated team carry out regular care support programme checks with our members and help signpost them to relevant local services such as food banks, health care providers, safeguarding referrals and referrals to benefits specialists.

3. Free IT Training and Digital Support

We also offer free on-going IT training with phones, tablets and laptops ensuring our members can stay connected with friends and family at home, do their online banking and help them fill in forms.

Sign Posting

As well as providing our own care programme we signpost regularly into other services providing expertise and help in areas like benefit claims, food banks, IT support, debt advice and budgeting, conflict resolution, property maintenance and fire and theft protection as well as having regular interactions with our national and local services like police, fire, NHS and council services.

Problem Solving

We operate an all-encompassing problem-solving approach to our care programme, this approach gives our members the confidence that no matter the problem we will have a helpful response and follow up in place that will resolve their issues and they will be supported through the process at every point if needed.

Support Network

Having access to our valuable support network, over time massively improves their outlook on life. It’s with this approach that we see such transformative long-lasting life changing effects on our members’ lives, mental health and general wellbeing. Our care programme makes them feel supported, cared for, listened to and understood ultimately making them feel more confident, supported and happy once again in their lives.

Our Impact

Just Good Friends in the community

The charity was established back in September 2012 by
our brilliant Founder and CEO Beverley Sykes after she
saw first hand the devastating effects that being lonely and
feeling isolated can do to people’s mental health and
general wellbeing.

We have grown steadily over the years under Bev’s
leadership to over 250 members, holding between 1-2
meetings and events per day, 7 days a week. Last year the
charity held over 400 local events in total.
