Our Mission

Building Inclusive Community Connections

Our core mission is to help combat loneliness and isolation within our community by bringing people together regularly helping them to make lasting friendships. We invite everyone into our group with over 250 members of all ages, genders, religions and ethnic backgrounds.

Why?

When people feel lonely it has a dramatic and devastating effect on their mental health and general outlook on life. This has been proven in research over the years to be a leading cause of suicide in the UK for people of all ages. The effects range from people having low self esteem, depression and anxiety, showing aggression towards loved ones and the general public, increased substance abuse and an increase in crime.

How?

We as a charity have proven the simplest, cheapest and most effective way to combat loneliness is to simply bring people together! We do this with a huge variety of events, meetings and outings 7 days a week.

Something for everyone

We make sure we have something for everyone to enjoy after all variety is the spice of life. Below are just a few types of events we hold each week.

Drama Classes
Fitness
Outings
Quizzing
Sports
Dancing
Meals out
Entertainment and Games

Our Impact

Just Good Friends in the community

The charity was established back in September 2012 by
our brilliant Founder and CEO Beverley Sykes after she
saw first hand the devastating effects that being lonely and
feeling isolated can do to people’s mental health and
general wellbeing.

We have grown steadily over the years under Bev’s
leadership to over 250 members, holding between 1-2
meetings and events per day, 7 days a week. Last year the
charity held over 400 local events in total.
