Befriending Service

Our team of dedicated volunteers regularly meet with members outside of our events to help with daily tasks members may be struggling with as well as providing emotional support in times of need helping to build a much valued community.

Ongoing Care and Community Support

In addition to the events, we also provide on going care in the community. Our dedicated team carry out regular care support programme checks with our members and help signpost them to relevant local services such as food banks, health care providers, safeguarding referrals and referrals to benefits specialists ensuring our members are claiming what they are entitled to.

Free IT Training and Digital Support

We also offer free on-going IT training with phones, tablets and laptops ensuring our members can stay connected with friends and family at home, do their online banking and help them fill in forms if needed by the government.

Care support programme – we are different!

We are here when you need us and with you all the way, were a trusted support network for our members and community. We’re fully committed to seeing every concern through to its resolution whether its care issues, emotional support, emergency assistance, social prescribing, banking, benefits or IT guidance we will be there when you need us.

Complex needs require a compassionate response, many of our members face challenges they feel overwhelmed by and often don’t know where or who to turn to that’s where we step in. With 13 years of continuous networking and relationship-building we’ve created an invaluable support network stretching far and wide into most industries, local and national government organisations and help networks to get the help and assistance you need.

We don’t put a stopwatch on our care support. Our dedicated team stays by your side from the first conversation through to the resolution of the issue whether it takes minutes or months to get sorted because your well-being deserves our persistence and compassion.

Our Impact

Just Good Friends in the community

The charity was established back in September 2012 by
our brilliant Founder and CEO Beverley Sykes after she
saw first hand the devastating effects that being lonely and
feeling isolated can do to people’s mental health and
general wellbeing.

We have grown steadily over the years under Bev’s
leadership to over 250 members, holding between 1-2
meetings and events per day, 7 days a week. Last year the
charity held over 400 local events in total.
